Come Worship With Us!
Holy Communion is offered weekly at both worship services.
Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
If you prefer a smaller, more informal worship experience, the Saturday night worship service is for you! It's also a great alternative for those weekends, when you don't want to miss worship, but Sunday morning worship just doesn't fit into your schedule. |
Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
On Sundays we alternate between a more traditional service from our hymnal and what we like to call our 'Celebrate' service. The Celebrate Service is accompanied by our Praise Team, while the Traditional Service is accompanied by piano and pipe organ. |
At Calvary our preaching and worship is guided by the Narrative Lectionary, a fairly new lectionary source, being used by more and more churches.
What is the Narrative Lectionary?
The concept is simple. The Narrative Lectionary is a schedule of readings for worship which seeks to tell the overarching biblical story in a nine month period. We begin the Narrative Lectionary on on the second Sunday in September, moving rapidly through the Old Testament story—starting with the stories of Genesis and culminating with the promise of the Messiah in Advent (December). Beginning with Christmas Eve, we will follow the story of Jesus—his birth, baptism and ministry, his suffering and death, and of course, the story of Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday primarily through one Gospel. After Easter, we will watch as the story of the early church unfolds as told through Acts and other New Testament writings.
By May we will have heard, the entire story of Scripture in a more complete way than the traditional lectionary offers. Our hope is that this will help us gain a greater knowledge, understanding and appreciation of God’s story as told through the Bible, and that as we gain a greater knowledge of God’s story and why that matters for our lives, we will find not only our knowledge of the Bible growing, but our faith as well.
