Director of Youth & Family Ministries (Part-Time)
Help Shape the Faith of the Next Generation

Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is seeking a passionate, energetic, and faith-filled Director of Youth & Family Ministries to lead and nurture the spiritual growth of children, youth, and families within our congregation.
This position offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, inspire young people in their faith journey, and create engaging ministries that help children and youth experience God's love through worship, fellowship, service, and learning.

Primary Responsibilities
The Director of Youth & Family Ministries will provide leadership for Calvary's children's and youth ministries, including:
Children's Ministry (JAM)
  • Plan and lead weekly Wednesday evening JAM programming using the Cokesbury & Ginger (C+G) Education Revised Common Lectionary curriculum.
  • Prepare meals and organize activities including music, Bible lessons, crafts, games, and seasonal events.
  • Communicate regularly with families through newsletters, announcements, and church publications.
  • Coordinate and direct the annual Children's Christmas Program.
Youth Ministry (EPIC)
  • Plan monthly fellowship events for students in grades 7–12.
  • Lead Bible studies, devotions, service opportunities, and special events.
  • Organize participation in the ELCA Youth Gathering and other youth events.
  • Coordinate fundraising efforts to support youth trips and ministry opportunities.
  • Lead annual events
Vacation Bible School
  • Plan and coordinate Vacation Bible School, including curriculum, meals, music, crafts, games, decorations, volunteers, and Sunday worship participation.
Confirmation Ministry
  • Coordinate Confirmation celebrations including robes, flowers, gifts, photography, and reception planning.
Children's Sermons
  • Prepare and present a weekly Children's Sermon connected to the Gospel lesson.
Older Wiser Lutherans (OWLS)
  • Organize monthly fellowship lunches and programs from September through May.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Recruit, train, and encourage volunteers.
  • Serve on the Parish Education Committee.
  • Attend monthly Church Council meetings and provide ministry updates.
  • Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to integrate youth and family ministry into the life of the congregation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and the congregation regarding ministry opportunities and upcoming events.

Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
  • A vibrant Christian faith and commitment to the mission of the Lutheran Church (ELCA preferred).
  • A passion for working with children, youth, and families.
  • Experience in youth ministry, education, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with youth, parents, volunteers, and church staff.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a servant's heart.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating as part of a ministry team.
